The first candidate to formally enter this year’s FEI presidential race has praised the accomplishments of Princess Haya in her eight years in the role.
Swiss businessman Pierre Genecand was responding to today’s announcement that the princess would not seek a third four-year at the General Assembly in Baku, Azerbaijan, in December.
Genecand, who splits his time between Switzerland and Argentina, said: “Under her leadership, equestrian sport and the FEI have made amazing progress and all of us are thankful for her unfailing commitment to making the FEI the modern and robust governing body that it is today.
“I wish Princess Haya all the best for her new commitments, notably in humanitarian work.”
Genecand said he would attend the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, to meet stakeholders in equestrian sport and talk with national federations.
