The Appaloosa Journal has won a prestigious award for publishing excellence for one of its magazine covers.
The US based magazine won a 2014 APEX Award for Publication Excellence for its October 2013 cover, which captured a breathtaking scene from the Chief Joseph Trail Ride of horses forging a river en mass, photographed by Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) member Kristen Reiter.
Now in its 26th year, the APEX competition is sponsored by Communications Concepts, Inc., which advises publishing, PR and marketing professionals on best practices in print, web and publishing.
The entry was among 215 submissions. Fellow winning entrants in the 2014 competition include: Walt Disney Company, World Wildlife Magazine, Ford Product Team, Lockheed Martin, American Bar Association, American Airlines Publishing, Charles Schwab & Co, Inc, The Washington Post, and T3 Custom/TD Ameritrade, to name a few. The 11 major categories attracted 2,075 entries and the competition was stated to be of “extraordinary quality.”
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by APEX,” said Steve Taylor, ApHC CEO. “It is particularly wonderful that a cover honoring the Chief Joseph Trail Ride should win such a prestigious award in the year of its 50th anniversary.”
