Four people were struck by lightning at FEI Balkan Eventing Championship near Shumen in Bulgaria on Saturday.
The four sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to a report on Bulgarian National Radio. They were standing under a tree during the cross-country phase of the competition when the lightning struck.
Bulgaria’s eventing team coach Boyko Naydenov told news website Focus Information Agency that the injured people has been taken to hospital and would remain under observation for 24 hours.
The competition, taking place at Bulgaria’s Kabiuk National Stud, resumed on Sunday.
