Shane Rose has won the CCI3* Sydney International Horse Trials on CP Qualified, and has also taken third place on Taurus.
Jessica Manson and Legal Star were second, and Sonja Johnson and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison were fourth.
Kiwi challenger Clarke Johnstone was eliminated on Balmoral Sensation after the pair parted company at the water jump, after being fourth in the dressage.
Twelve of the 18 starters finished the event, with two others being eliminated on Saturday. Dressage leader Megan Jones and Flowervale Maserati withdrew before the showjumping, after completing the cross-country with 10.8 time faults, but retaining second place overall.
Only three starters went clear in the jumping phase, and while Rose and CP Qualified took a rail, had rails in hand over Manson. Rose’s Taurus dropped four rails but still managed third.
“CP Qualified just keeps getting better and better with each start. Leading into the event he missed a couple of weeks with a hoof crack so I’m pleased with how he’s gone today,” Rose said.
Following the cross country phase of last year’s Australian International Three Day Event CCI4* Rose was in second and third position with Taurus and Qualified but both horses knocked down rails in the show jumping phase which proved costly.
