Dressage rider Ayden Uhlir has become the first equestrian in the US to be signed by Nike.
The 18-year-old was a gold medalist in both the 2013 North American Young Riders Championships and USEF Young Rider National Championships.
Uhlir is originally from Texas, but now lives in California. She is trained by Olympic bronze medalist Christine Traurig.
As a result of the endorsement deal, Uhlir has signed with sports agent Sheryl Shade of Shade Global.
Uhlir said: “What it means for me I imagine, is the support, opportunities and recognition that the world’s premier athletic company can provide. It means access to mainstream media and sponsors. It means awareness and perhaps a growth in the fan base for equestrian sports,” she said.
“I have had the last few months to get used to the idea and to make a lot of changes in my life to be able to maximize on this opportunity.”
